Stress Test: Measure Your Cortisol and DHEA-S Levels

Recibe tu Kit y realiza el test en casa

Do you feel tiredness that doesn't go away, sleep poorly, or feel overwhelmed by the pressure of daily life? This test analyzes cortisol, the stress hormone, and DHEA-S to assess whether your body is under chronic stress that could be affecting your energy and well-being.

Descripción

Stress is a natural response of the body to situations we perceive as threats or challenges, but when it becomes chronic, it can affect your health. This test measures cortisol levels (the "stress hormone") and DHEA-S (a key hormone for balance and vitality) throughout the day. An imbalance between the two may be the cause of your persistent fatigue, irritability, or lack of concentration. Through four simple saliva samples, we obtain a map of your hormonal response to stress, allowing us to identify if your body is in a constant state of alert.
Measurements will be taken:
Cortisol: 4 measurements (at 8:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 4:00 PM, and 12:00 AM)
DHEA-S: 2 measurements (at 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM)

¿Where is it done?

Take the test comfortably at home, with no appointments or travel required. You will receive a kit with everything you need and simple instructions to collect the sample yourself, privately and at your own pace.

Each tube is fitted into a larger, conical-shaped tube.
1 plastic bag with a hermetic seal to insert the tubes.

How does it work?

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are hormones measured in saliva and not in blood?

Saliva is ideal for measuring "free" cortisol, which is the active form of the hormone that your body actually uses. Measuring it at different times of the day gives us an accurate picture of your stress rhythm, something a single blood test cannot show. It is a non-invasive, comfortable, and very reliable method to assess adrenal function.

What happens if I can't take the samples exactly at the indicated times?

It is very important that you try to be as precise as possible, as the goal is to measure your hormonal rhythm throughout the day. If you deviate by 15-30 minutes, note it on the request form. However, larger deviations may affect the validity of the results. If you skip a sample, the profile will not be complete and we will not be able to properly evaluate your cortisol curve.

Will this test tell me if I have "burnout" or chronic fatigue syndrome?

This test does not diagnose a disease on its own, but it is a key tool to understand the biological basis of your symptoms. An altered pattern of cortisol and DHEA is an objective indicator of chronic stress and adrenal exhaustion, conditions that are at the root of burnout and fatigue. The results will help your doctor confirm a diagnosis and guide treatment.

If I take supplements for stress (such as ashwagandha or rhodiola) should I stop taking them?

Yes. To ensure the results reflect the natural state of your body, it is recommended to stop supplements that may influence adrenal function or cortisol levels at least 48-72 hours before the test. Always consult your healthcare professional before discontinuing any treatment.

What is the difference between cortisol and DHEA? Why are both measured?

Think of them as a team. Cortisol is the "alert" hormone that spikes with stress. DHEA is a hormone that helps to "repair" and counteract the effects of cortisol. Measuring both allows us to see the balance: if your cortisol is constantly high and your DHEA is low, it is a clear sign that your body is "burning" its reserves and is in a state of chronic stress.

Opinions from our customers

The process was simple: I collected saliva samples at different times of the day following the instructions and sent them to the laboratory.

Beatriz H.

The results allowed me to see that my cortisol levels were elevated throughout the day, which explained my feeling of exhaustion. Thanks to that, my nutritionist was able to guide me better.
