The seminogram, also known as spermogram, is the reference test to evaluate the quality of semen and sperm.
This analysis assesses the macroscopic characteristics of semen (volume, color, pH, viscosity) and, under the microscope, fundamental aspects such as concentration, motility, vitality, and morphology of the sperm.
This study allows the identification of alterations such as:
Oligospermia (low sperm concentration).
Asthenospermia (insufficient motility).
Teratospermia (abnormalities in shape).
Azoospermia (absence of sperm).
Hypospermia (low semen volume).
Aspermia (absence of ejaculation).
It is a key analysis when there are difficulties conceiving, but also before assisted reproduction techniques, after a vasectomy, or in semen cryopreservation processes.
